Volunteers needed for JISP:

Grades 9-12 : Are you interested in volunteering to ski or snowboard with L&G during winter sports. Karen Meyer needs volunteers. Volunteer registration is via the JISP link on the L&G website. Please let Karen Meyer know if you register. She needs to supply Stratton with a list of all L&G volunteers.

From the Music Department:

The next Friends of Music meeting will be September 26th at 5:30 in the music room. We will be getting ready for the Oct 14th Music Night. We need a few people to help out so that it will be as awesome as possible.

High School Jazz band will have its first rehearsal on Thursday, September 22nd at 6:30.

Rocktoberfest:

ROCKTOBERFEST 2016 is happening on Friday, October 7th, 2016 from 7:00pm - 10:00pm
This is one of two all-school events open to students in grades 7-12.  Rocktoberfest is an outdoor dance and a bonfire, taking place in the parking lot next to the soccer fields.  
Admission is just $5.00.  Bring extra money for concessions which will be sold by the L & G Booster's Club.  This is a school wide community building event, so no students outside of Leland & Gray will be allowed to attend.

To Mind the Gap*, Mind the Map:

MIND THE MAP!  All enrolled and all others interested in the Semester II course in the history of Irish and English literature and culture should come to  a meeting Monday, September 19 from 5-7 in Room B4.  Details about the course trip to Ireland and England will be shared then.  For more information, write alandenberger@lelandandgray.org.

Girls Rock The Capitol:

Girls in grades 9-12:  Do you have an interest in government, public policy, or advocacy? Are you interested in getting a behind-the-scenes look at your state government? Join Girls Rock the Capitol (GRTC), a unique legislative internship and mentoring program for high school girls. Applicants must be mature, articulate, and interested in advocacy or political service. Please see Sarah Grasso for more information if you are interested.


Girls Grades 9-12:

Calling girls in grades 9-12 to join Nika and Mrs. Jones as we attend the Women Can Do conference at VTC on October 13th. The conference is a "...career immersion experience where high school girls from across Vermont explore the skilled trades and STEM fields." Learn about and do activities in Architecture and Engineering, Computers and Communications, the Sciences, Natural Resources and Renewable Energy, Public Safety and Health, Skilled Trades, and others. Pick up a registration form from Nika or Mrs. Jones. Forms and money are due back on or before September 16th.Act early for the 8 spaces available. Trip to Thailand:

Sawasdee! (That means hello in Thai!) Leland and Gray will be hosting an exciting and educational trip toThailand, open to students, parents, and teachers, in the spring of 2017. 


Are you ready to...

Students will have the chance to participate in an educational tour of Thailand in April 2017.

There will be an informational kick-off meeting on Tuesday, September 20th at 6:00 pm at Leland and Gray, room A-10, to provide more details about this opportunity and to answer any questions you may have. Please fill out the online form below by Monday, September 19th to ensure I can accommodate everyone in our meeting space.

Late Bus:

The late bus will begin running on Monday, September 19th. It will continue running through Wednesday, October 19th.

Please make alternative transportation arrangements for the dates the bus is not available.

The late bus runs Monday - Thursday.  The late bus does not run on half days.

HEY! After School Programs:

HEY Afterschool Programs and Late Bus Begin on Monday!!
These free programs are additional offerings beyond sports, drama and band  practices. 
For the first couple of weeks, HEY is focusing on 3 spaces where students will find cool things to do after school. We will keep adding new programs as we get rolling.

The Bystander:

The Women's Freedom Center is excited to host Tim Collins and present THE BYSTANDER, an award-winning one man show about bystander intervention and sexual assault prevention. 

Event is by donation ~ all proceeds go to the important work of the WFC.  

THE BYSTANDER contemplates the issue of Bystander Intervention in regards to domestic and sexual violence.  The show will be followed by Q&A and discussion. What can we as a community do about these issues?  How do we intervene?  How do we take care of each other?

All of our Athletic forms are only available online through the Leland & Gray website.  You can find them here:  https://formreleaf.com/organizations/leland-and-gray-union-middle-and-high-school  The physical form which needs to be signed by a physician is also available on this site to be printed.  The main office at L&G has paper copies of the physical form only if you do not have access to a printer.


Thank You:

A major THANK YOU to all those that helped with the soccer games on Saturday, September 9th. It was a great day with 4 wins and tons of community support! The atmosphere was electric!  Thank you to the Booster Club for providing the teams with sandwiches , snacks and drinks!

We were also able to raise $400 for the Ann Chapman Memorial Scholarship Fund...all by donation!

New Co-Curricular Calendar:

Tired of Digital Sports/League Minder?  We were too!  So we've transferred all of the co-curricular events to a Google Calendar which can be found on the left hand menu bar of the L&G homepage or here:  http://lelandandgray.org/index.php/co-curricular-calendar  Many thanks to the IT department for their assistance with this process!  The information will still be kept up to date on Digital Sports.
