SCHOOL INFO:

Our School Calendar can be found here.

Late Bus:

The Late Bus Schedule can be found here

Bond Vote:

The West River Board of Directors has warned a new Bond vote for September 10th. An informational meeting will be held at 7:00pm at Leland and Gray on Sep 3rd.

Why are we Voting again?

The first vote did not include the specificity of a BOND.

What is the benefit of voting again?

The interest rate through a bond is less costly. By voting again, taxpayers will save money.

When is the vote?

September 10th in Brookline, Jamaica, Newfane, Townshend, & Windham

The Warning:

Shall the action taken at the Annual Meeting of the West River Modified Union Education District held on March 27, 2019, in spite of the fact that the Warning for that meeting did not mention that financing of the wood-fired boiler would be through a bond issuance, was not published in The Brattleboro Reformer for three consecutive weeks on the same day of the week and not posted in five places in each town, and any act or action of the municipal officers or agents pursuant thereto, be readopted, ratified and confirmed?

7th & 8th Grade Cell Policy:

The 7th and 8th grade students are off to an excellent start and we are so happy to have them.  We wanted to make you aware of the cell phone policy for our students so that we are consistent between home and school with our expectations.  Any 7th or 8th grade student who brings a cell phone to school will hand it to their House teacher by 7:50.  The teacher will keep it secured for the entire day and the student can pick it up at 2:40. If a student is found with a device during the day, staff will turn the phone in to the office so that you come by during office hours (7:30-3:30) to retrieve it.  We appreciate you reinforcing this policy with your children at home as we continue to work together to make sure all of the middle school students have a successful year!

L&G Players Website AND Fall Musical: Into the Woods:

Please make sure to check out the Leland & Gray school calendar.  It differs from the District calendar because of professional development days for our faculty.   The full calendar can be found here.

Our wonderful Theatre Department, Leland and Gray Players has a functioning and current website! (Thanks Kevin for your help!) It mostly has photos from the last few years (since I took over the direction), but there are links to archives too. Take a look and let me know what you think! It's still a work in progress but I'm proud it's finally live!

I thought I'd also take this opportunity to tell you that The Leland and Gray Players will be starting to rehearse our fall musical, Into the Woods, next week. The first two rehearsals are Wed 9/4 and Thurs 9/5 from 2:45-4:30 in the Dutton. We'll be going over the schedule, answering any questions, playing fun games, singing songs and reading the script. Anyone who wants to come is welcome.

I really want to reiterate that our doors are welcome to any student who wants to participate in our program, grades 6-12. Yes, we have cast the major roles already, but if there are students who want to be involved please send them my way. I have a long list of middle school students who signed up with me in the spring, and I will be reaching out to them this week. I will be posting our schedule on our bulletin board (outside my B2 classroom) and put one on top of A level too. I still need techies, painters, props builders, set builders, lighting and sound folks and costume peeps. If there are some students who still want to act in the ensemble, that is still an option as well.

Drama gives students the opportunity to be seen, to be heard, to gain confidence, to feel included and to be creative. If you see a student who really needs a place to be engaged, encourage them to be involved! (And if there is any staff who wants to help out, come on by!)

Much appreciated,

Jessa, Artistic Director
With support by,
Dr. Mike Kelly, Music Director
Sarah Grasso, Choreographer
Trish Scott, Costumer
Dale Stevens, Technical Director
David Sanguinetti, Set Director
Joe Sanguinetti, Lighting Director

Fairy House Festival:

Fairy House Festival, scheduled for September 28th and 29th.
Fairy House Festival is by far our biggest fundraiser and we couldn't pull it off without the help and generosity of volunteers. It’s because of the funds raised at the Festival that we are able to keep our museum doors open and our programming costs accessible.
Volunteering at Fairy House Festival is not only an opportunity to support The Nature Museum, but also to make new connections and have fun. Volunteer duties include facilitating crafts, being a trail docent, managing the bubble station, and working at the refreshments tent just to name a few.
Students can sign up to volunteer by clicking this link, or by visiting our web page and following the “Fairies”. There, volunteers will be able to choose their shift(s) and sign up to receive a free t-shirt.

Sub Varsity Soccer Officials Training and Membership:
