Friends of Music:

There will be a Friends of Music meeting on Wednesday, February 4th at 5:30 at the home of Penny Tuerk and Dale Stevens. There will be a potluck dinner followed by a short meeting. Please be fragrance free. Contact Mr. Kelley for details and directions.

Music Department:

For the last 12 years February’s Friday Night Gallery Walk has included a show of talent that gives people one more great reason to come downtown whatever the weather may bring. Taking the stage on Friday, February 6, at 8:00pm, six regional high school a cappella groups will give a concert at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center in anticipation of Saturday’s collegiate event at the Latchis. This event has received rave reviews every year, and all proceeds support Brattleboro’s In-Sight Photography Project.

The line-up for Friday evening includes Renegade, Shoulder Narrows, Xpressivo, and Spiralia, all of which are student-directed independent groups from the Brattleboro area. In addition to the student groups, two top-notch high school ensembles will return to round out the show – the Brattleboro Union High School Madrigals, directed by Patty Meyer, and the Leland & Gray Rebel Clefs, directed by Ron Kelley. General admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets will be sold at the door of the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center. Seating is limited, with ample standing room.

Penny War:

The Above the Influence group will be organizing a Penny War. How it works is each class gets a jar. A penny gives your class a point, but a dime would take away 10 points, a nickle 5 points and a quart 25. The money raised will be split with a local prevention charity, and the Above the Influence group. So if you have some extra change kicking around please bring it. The winning class will get 50 spirit points, second place 40, third 30 and so on until last place. Thank you for your support.

Science Fair:

Want to earn extra credit in your science class?  Enter Leland and Gray's Science Fair and you will!!

Any student (grades 7-12) may enter a project in the fair which will be held on March 27th-28th in the Dutton Gym.

The exceptional science teachers at L&G will help guide you through the science fair process, including working on your project design and construction.

If your interested, please get an entry form from your science teacher, fill it out and return it to them by Monday, February 9th.

Every great advance in science has issued from a new audacity of imagination.
                    -John Dewey

Costa Rica Trip:

Twenty four members of our school and school community will be leaving for a nine day trip to Costa Rica on February 16th.  The trip will include hikes in a low elevation, primary rain forest, a two day white water rafting expedition on the Pacuare River (including an overnight stay in the jungle), a hike to the base of the Arenal Volcano, hot springs and ziplining.  It will be an epic trip.
