SCHOOL INFO

August 25, 2023

Hello Everyone,

For the week in review, we had a well-attended 6th-grade social. Families came in to shake off the nervousness. Beth Wells and Natalie Beckstrom chatted with folks, and we all toured the school.

High school sports have been practicing! It is always good to see students at school. Please check our Co-Curricular Calendar for events. You are always welcome.

The staff has been in the building for a few days getting ready, and the energy is fantastic! I can tell you they are prepared and excited to see the students. Additionally, all positions are filled. You probably heard a sound yesterday; that was my sigh of relief!

Please do not hesitate to reach out to staff with any questions. We are here for you!

Principal

Updated Pickleball Policy:

Maintenance has been working hard this summer to make sure everything is up and running for the year, which includes our Tennis and Pickleball Courts! This was a big investment of time and resources and we want to do our best to maintain them. Tennis and Pickleball Courts will be open for student use during school hours and locked at the end of the day as well as over weekends/school breaks. Starting September 1st, there will be a request form for the community to book time on the courts that will include signing out a key at the front office.

RTU Registration

August 2023

Dear Youth, Caring Adults, School Administrators, and Valued Community Members:

We are so excited to announce programming for the 2023 - 2024 RTU Fall and Winter season. Last year we had over 355 youth and their caring adults participate in The Collaborative’s substance misuse and asset building programming that promotes wellness by creating educational and healthy alternative opportunities.

Registration for RTU is open August 15th and is available for middle and high school students from Burr and Burton Academy, Long Trail School, Arlington Memorial Middle & High School, Leland and Gray Middle and High School, Maple Street School, Manchester Elementary and Middle School, Dorset School, Flood Brook School, and home school students that would otherwise attend those schools.

Not sure what RTU is? Well, youth and their caring adults sign up to engage in 5 learning events between September and February that teach about the importance of making healthy decisions, taking care of your mental health, and the impact of substance use on the developing brain. If participants and caring adults complete all their work and attend all required events, the youth will earn a season pass to Stratton Mountain Resort, or Riley Rink at Hunter Park, Magic Mountain Ski Resort, or Viking Nordic Center.

This year, we will be focusing our programming on “Resilience Through Understanding” where we will focus on mental health and the many challenges that youth can face in regards to making healthy decisions for themselves and their futures.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this communication with your friends, family, school communities, and business stake-holders. We want to make sure we are including as many young people and their caring adults as we can in this incredible educational opportunity.
