Friday Notes 2/18/22

SCHOOL INFO

Upcoming Dates:

  • Monday, Feb 21 - Tue, March 1 - February Vacation (Wed Feb 2nd is first day back!)

  • Tuesday, March 8th - Concert in celebration of Music In Our Schools Month

  • Wednesday, March 16 - HS students have a late arrival (9:15am) as we start up our PBL days for the spring.  Remember that buses still run at the normal time.

  • Thursday, March 17 - Parent Conferences (see below)

  • Wednesday, March 23 - All school early release day (teacher in-service)

  • Wednesday, March 30 - PBL day for HS (9:15 arrival)

Parent Conferences:

Very soon, if not already, teachers will be emailing the link to sign up for parent conferences.  These will happen on Thursday, March 17th either in person or via zoom.  For grades 9-12, there will be an early release on that day at 11:30am.  Buses will run at that time.  For grades 6-8, there will be no school on that day, so that teachers and parents have the full day to collaborate.  We really want to get more engagement overall - in the fall just over 50% of students had a conference!  We’d really love to see that number increase!

Vaccination Clinics:

Please see the Vermont Department of Health website for opportunities for your 5-11 year old children to access a vaccination.  We strive to get to a place where once the state announces we can go mask-free (after achieving 80%) that we can celebrate that freedom knowing that our children are protected by several mitigation measures.

Music Concert:

This March 8th at 7:00 Leland and Gray in collaboration with our district elementary schools are hosting a concert in celebration of Music In Our Schools Month! Please join us in this celebration either in person or through our live stream (link available the morning of the concert) Come watch former and current students, neighbors and friends making high quality music together for the first time in over two years! Staff and faculty from all schools are also invited to perform with the band and chorus (it’s easy music, I promise!). Email Elyse Wadsworth at ewadsworth@windhamcentral.org (Leland and Gray chorus director) if you have any questions or would like to participate.

SCHOOL INFO

February 11, 2022

Dear L&G Families:

What a wild ride it’s been in the past few weeks with regards to COVID cases in our school community.  I appreciate all of the patience and kindness shared with our staff as we deal with teacher absences, test kit distribution, and changing notification procedures.  As we approach February break, we are seeing indications from our Governor that things might loosen up with regards to masking if we reach the 80% vaccination threshold.  We are about 25 students short of that mark today!

This weekend is our annual Hoops for Hope charity basketball game series.  Tonight the girls play and the boys play tomorrow afternoon.  All proceeds (tickets, 50/50, etc) go to fund three really special scholarship funds, named in honor of three amazing people that we’ve lost to cancer in recent years.  Come support the teams and the cause!!!

Tomorrow evening is the HS semi-formal from 7-10pm in the Dutton Gym.
