Change in Dental Program:

Greetings Leland & Gray Families,

As many of you may have heard, Dr. Rediske's dental office has closed their Townshend location, creating issues for our current dental program.  Our administration has partnered again with the Stratton Foundation to provide students with dental care regardless of insurance or ability to pay.  We will be bringing in Barbara Hodgkins, a dental hygienist, to perform cleanings and preventative maintenance procedures.  Please keep your eye out for more information and the new paperwork necessary to participate.  We apologize for the inconvenience, but look forward to ensuring our students get the care they deserve.

Lauren Shockley, RN BSN
School Nurse

Food Resources:

Dear Parent or Guardian,
We are committed to making sure that all students have the tools they need to succeed, including good
nutrition to fuel their bodies and minds. That is why we are writing to you, to let you know of food resources in
your area that, if needed, you and your family can access throughout the year, including during school breaks.
Many of these resources are working to offer healthy and local food. Most of these are free, though some may
have specific criteria to be eligible. We encourage you to access these resources should you need them. To
obtain additional information, please see attached resource list and contact the organizations directly if
needed. Thank you.

Hoops For Hope:

Newfane Town Meeting:

  • Newfane Town Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 5, starting at 9 am at Williamsville Hall, which has a new boiler and will be adequately heated!
  • All registered voters in the Town of Newfane can speak and vote at the meeting.
  • There’s still time for residents who are not on the voter checklist to register to vote at the Town Clerk’s Office, M-Th 8-6.
  • All Vermont voters have a right to take unpaid leave in order to attend Town Meeting, provided their employer can operate without them and the employee notifies the employer in writing seven days prior (Vermont Statute 21 Section 472B). February 26 is this year’s deadline. The law isn’t perfect, but it’s a start.
  • The NewBrook Sixth grade will be selling coffee and baked goods to fuel voters and fundraise for their trip to Montreal.
  • The Williamsville Hall Committee will provide a soup and salad lunch at noon for a modest fee.
  • Children are welcome to attend the meeting with a parent. Anyone willing to provide supervised play should contact Deborah Luskin, Town Moderator. This would be a huge civic service!
  • Why should you attend Town Meeting? Here’s one answer: Ordinary Citizens Can Participate in Local Governance.
  • Check the Front Porch Forum for when and where there will be a Roberts Rules of Order Refresher for voters who want to relearn the rules that govern the meeting.

An opportunity for community service or for credit, if you take the "Career Exploration and Student Internship" course:

3GC Outreach Assistant
Spring 2019
The 3GC Outreach Assistant will work closely with the coordinators of 3 Generations Collaboration to assist with outreach and publicity for our volunteer and community service program.

This internship will help you practice some communication and marketing skills, and you will also have the opportunity to learn about how a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization functions. (Did you know that about 1 out of every 7 Vermont workers is employed by a non-profit organization?)

Job responsibilities:
- Help form a student advisory committee.
- Help 3GC keep in contact with the schools, other community organizations, and volunteers.
- Attend one meeting of the Board of Directors, if possible.
- Possible other activities, depending on the intern's abilities (examples: photograph volunteers, help with a mailing or fundraising event, etc).

Job Functions required:
Use phone and communicate clearly
Be organized and pay attention to details
Use email, and possible other computer programs
Be willing to learn new skills
