BASKETBALL TIME CHANGE FOR WEEKDAY LEAGUE GAMES
The Marble Valley League has changed the times of league double headers during the week from 6pm and 7:30pm to 5:30pm and 7pm. This change has been made for both Boys and Girls. Please be aware of the time changes that affect our games at Leland and Gray. If you have any questions, please contact me via email at mtesto@lelandandgray.org

A NOTE FROM COACH REDFIELD
The eighth grade girls opened their basketball season with a pair of wins; on Monday they defeated a very good Westmoreland team, 39-35, and on Tuesday they swamped a game but overmatched Kurn Hattin team 42-6.  Mariah and Julianne had 10 points each against Westmoreland; Olivia B. had 7 and Morgan had 6.  Against KH, Julianne again led the way with 12 points, Mariah and Kelsi had 8 each, and Elizabeth H. scored 6 in the first game she ever played in.

The girls travel to Dummerston next Wednesday and to Putney on Thursday.

HUNGRY HEARTS FILM
The Hungry Heart: A Film About Prescription Drug Abuse in Vermont comes to Leland and Gray. The Hungry Heart provides an intimate look at the often hidden world of prescription drug addiction. We meet St. Albans pediatrician Fred Holmes, who works with patients struggling with this disease.

In addition to students and parents/guardians involved in co-curricular activities, this free event is open to all students, staff, and community members. Leland and Gray will feature the movie in the Dutton Gym on Wednesday, January 29th at 6:30pm (snow-date: February 5th). Before the film, a reception for all moviegoers will be provided beginning at 5:45pm, sponsored by the West River Valley Thrives Coalition.

Afterwards, filmmaker Bess O’Brien, Dr. Holmes, his patients, and family members will present and answer questions from the audience. Earlier that day, they will present at a school assembly and meet with doctors at Grace Cottage Hospital to discuss the problem of prescription drug abuse in our area. The film shines a light on the healing power of conversation and the need for connection that many young addicts yearn for, but do not have in their lives. Throughout the movie, we see the many faces and diverse populations of addiction, and their continued search for a life of recovery. Please attend this unique opportunity for our community to learn together.
