School Calendar:

Please make sure to check out the Leland & Gray school calendar.  It differs from the District calendar because of professional development days for our faculty.   The full calendar can be found here.

Snow Day Routine Change:

 This year we have changed our routine with regards to snow days and our day rotations (green/white and A/B/C)The change - reflected in the attached calendars (click here) is that when we have a snow day, we will SKIP the intended day and NOT PUSH it. In other words, the days are hard-scheduled for the year in advance.  

Late Bus Calendar:

The late bus schedule can be found here.  Please note the bus will only run south this year.

Announcement for Theatre:

Would you like to be involved in the Leland and Gray Theatre Department? 
Want to travel with the Players in March to the Drama State Festival for our competition? Interested in doing costumes, learning lights, helping build a set or making props? Need community service hours? Please see Ms. Rowan asap in A9! We're rehearsing for our winter one act play, "Pullman Car Hiawatha" by Thornton Wilder and would love for you to join our technical crew! 

Spain 2019:

During the February break, 14 L & G high school students and two teachers will travel to Spain as part of our ongoing cultural exchange with El Instituto Los Cahorros, a high school in Monachil, Spain.  

On Saturday, January 12th, there will be a Spanish Dinner & Dance at the Dutton Gym.  Dinner will be served from 6:00 - 7:00, and live and recorded music will be performed throughout the evening.  Authentic Spanish foods will be served...paella, gazpacho soup, tortillas Españolas, rice and beans, and other foods, along with desserts and non-alcoholic beverages will be available.  Ticket prices are: $10 for adults, $5 for students, or $25 for families.  $5 for dance only.  There will also be a silent auction for great prizes.

The students are also selling month-long calendar raffles!  With fantastic prizes for each day of the month, you have 31 chances to win!  And a winner one day with have the ticket entered back in to the raffle, so you may win multiple times!  Calendars are $10 for one or 3 for $20.  Contact one of the students or Ms. Cissé at jjulian-cisse@lelandandgray.org, if you want to buy a calendar, or if you have any questions about the trip or any of the fundraising activities.    Muchas Gracias for your support!

High School:


Tuesday, 1/15 Green Day Exams happen on last day of regular classes (during class)
[Blocks A & B are the only ones with G/W rotation]

Wednesday 1/16 Exams:

7:50 - 8:30 FLEX 1 (use Wednesday’s sign up in Enriching Students)
8:35 - 10:35 A-Block (White/Green & White) Exam
10:35 - 11:05 Lunch
11:10 - 1:10 B-Block (White/Green & White) Exam
Students may leave if they have their own transportation; Students must sign out.
Supervision provided from 1:10 - 2:40
Winter activity that is scheduled for this day is postponed. if we lose a WA day due to weather, we will end up with four (4).

Thursday 1/17 Exams:

7:50 - 8:30 FLEX 1 (use Thursday’s sign up in Enriching Students)
8:35 - 10:35 C-Block Exam

Middle School:

The middle school schedule for the week of 1/14 - 1/18 will be a regular schedule, aside from Friday, which will be a project/exams makeup day for students.

Community Service Opportunities:

The Town of Townshend is looking for assistance in producing their Annual Report, including layout, photography and data entry.  Must be computer savvy.  This opportunity is available for community service, or possibly credit.

Please see Terry in Room A-13 for more information.

3 Generation Collaboration Community Service Opportunities:

New community service opportunities with 3 Generations Collaboration are always being posted at www.team3gc.org

Grant for Students:

www.WaysToHelp.org  invites high school students to apply for grants to fund their community service ideas across any one of 16 issue areas in four categories:
The Environment: global warming, clean water, land preservation, and recycling; Democracy and Equality: education and development, gender equality, homelessness and poverty, and financial well-being; Health: HIV/AIDS, cancer/smoking, organ and blood donation, and general fitness;  Community Issues: drug/alcohol abuse, crime prevention, animal welfare, and senior care.
Applicants should summarize in 5,000 characters or less how the project will involve others, who it will help, what effect it is expected to have, when it will start, and how the funds will be used. Deadline: Rolling.

L&G students are welcome to contact 3 Generations Collaboration if they need a local collaborating organization for their project. Please note, you should first check with your school's community service coordinator to make sure your project will qualify for service hours credit.
