Report Cards in Alma training for Parents

On Tuesday, December 5th from 6pm-7pm we will be holding training sessions for parents to get a better understanding of how to read report cards in Alma. A representative from the IT Department will also be available at this time to help answer any questions about how to access the information. If you would like to come it is recommended that you arrive with a device you would use to view Alma, this could be a laptop, cell phone, or ipad.

NEASC Survey

In preparation for the upcoming Self-Reflection that Leland & Gray Union Middle High School will be completing as part of the NEASC Accreditation process, all students, families, and faculty members will complete surveys designed to provide our school with important feedback on our work. We hope to learn more about what is working well for our students and identify areas for growth and improvement. Every student will be able to complete a similar survey during the school day.

Please take a few minutes to complete the following survey: Leland & Gray Union Middle High School Family Survey

8th Grade Field Trip

Today there was an 8th grade field trip to Historic Deerfield in Massachusetts for a place-based learning experience. Students explored contrasting concepts of land held by Indigenous people and English colonists, and had a hands-on exercise with reproduction objects.

Holiday Gifts

NHS Project Feed

Each year around the holiday's our chapter of the National Honor Society collects non-perishable food and personal items to donate to the food shelves in Wardsboro and Townshend.  This year the middle and high schools will be competing to see who can bring in the most as we strive to reach our goal of 400 pounds collected.  We will be collecting food from now until Wednesday 12/20.  Please consider donating items to help support our community and those in need.  If you have any questions please reach out to our National Honor Society advisor, Kayla Anthony at kanthony@windhamcentral.org

Late Bus Reminder

Please be aware that if your child will be riding the late bus home there is only 1 bus with the following stops:

  • Tony’s Lane in East Jamaica

  • Turn around at the Jamaica Fire Station

  • Flea Market in Newfane

  • Bank in Newfane

The bus leaves school around 4:30, and there is no bus on Wednesday.

Picture Retake day is Tuesday 12/5

Retake day is for new students and staff members, transfer students, or for anyone who may have missed the initial picture day, OR for anyone who was unhappy with their original picture and would like to give it another try. If a student would like the retake photo to replace the original photo, please have the student return the original picture package to the photographer on picture day. We will replace the original package at no additional cost.

If this is the first time being photographed, just have the student/staff go to the camera and we’ll create a proof for them that will be sent to the school (and/or to their family email if we have that information). These proofs will be delivered approx. 4 weeks after picture day. An order code will be on the proof along with ordering instructions.

West River Valley Thrives Survey

YOUR VOICE MATTERS

Help Ban the Sale of Flavored Tobacco Products in VT!

Parents, YOUR voice is important! The Coalition for Tobacco Free Vermont is looking for parents who are concerned about flavored tobacco products (vapes/cigarettes) and would be willing to speak up in whatever way is comfortable. It could be as simple as providing a short quote for a flier, a social media post, or as extensive as writing an op-ed piece for the newspaper.

This is to support the effort to prohibit the sale of menthol and flavored tobacco products, including vapes, in Vermont. Bill S18 is waiting to be taken up by the House in January and the more support that can be gathered, the better chance it has of being brought to a vote.

If you are interested, or would like to learn more before making a decision, please contact Sara Webb at West River Valley Thrives: wrvtengaged@gmail.com
