We are thrilled our students are off to a fantastic start this school year! Their happiness and enthusiasm are shining brightly, thanks to our dedicated staff's positive energy and thoughtful planning. At the beginning of August forms were mailed home to families. Please take the time to review and return to school the Walking Field Trip form, Technology Use and Publication Procedures, and the Health Form. If you cannot find the copies that were mailed, you can also access new copies from an email that was sent out on August 6th.
If you are new to the district and have not yet received an email from Alma about setting up your account please call the main office at 802-365-7355.
Students taking a bus they don’t usually take, or are getting off at a different stop will need a bus pass from the front office. Please call as early as possible to give permission and a pass will be issued.
Families are invited to come to Leland and Gray on September 4th for our Back to School Night from 6-7! That will be followed by a make-up mandatory co-curricular meeting for those who missed the first one. This is required for students participating in Co-Curricular activities, as well as one caring adult.
School is closed on Monday for Labor Day, I hope everyone enjoys their three day weekend!

RTU Kick Off!
West River Valley
Growing Youth Leaders in the West River Valley
Throughout the 2023-24 school year, West River Valley Thrives worked with L&G students involved in a youth empowerment group called Our Voices Exposed (OVX). The group provides peer & community education about the dangers of using nicotine products and advocates for greater restrictions on the accessibility of these products to youth and young adults.
With the assistance of the Programs and Youth Engagement Coordinator, OVX students created educational bulletin boards with information regarding vaping, tobacco use, and drugs and alcohol facts, the dangers of using these products, and tactics that big tobacco companies use to lure youth in. Students also planned and executed an “At Home Rally” for Vermont’s annual Prevention Day in February. Students created posters, provided games and other activities for their peers and school staff. OVX students also attended the annual Vermont Youth Leadership Summit where a few members of the group publicly shared their thoughts and feelings on youth vaping and tobacco use.
Thrives and current OVX students are excited for the 2024-25 school year as more educational and leadership opportunities will be offered! All middle and high students are welcome to get involved.
